Movement Patterns Used to Rise from a Supine Position to Erect Stance

Abstract
Standing up from a supine position is important for physical independence. This study was investigated literarily with classic motor development theory the writing of Stockmeyer, Bobaths, Knott and Voss and a life-span concept of motor development.
According to classic theory motor development is primarily caused by the process of maturation of the central nervous system. As a corollary to this theory, when neural maturation is complete, the developmental process terminates.
In contrast to classical theory, a life-span concept of motor development is emerging. A life-span theory of motor developmemt assums that age related change in motor behavior is a lifelong phenomenon.
